Most of the notes on this were probably because lesbians.

…is there some other narrative here that I’ve missed? Did I accidentally hide a sci-fi story in the color choices? Literally the entire point of this one sentence story is girls falling in love.

Not specifically about lesbians, though, because these girls could also be bi or pan or ace or basically anything up to and including mostly straight, only this time they happened to fall in love with another woman.

But yeah- the notes on this comic are because of the content of this comic, and an interpretation of that content is that they are lesbians.
